So as to improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia, the country’s higher education institutes need to become world-class universities. For that reason, there needs to be a standardized system of education from undergraduate degree (S-1) level up to the doctoral (S-3) and professional education levels. Achieving international standard will not be easy for Indonesia’s universities and will require major investment. As an initial step, the widest possible opportunities should be provided so as to allow higher education institutes to fund themselves based on the financial capacity of students.
