Starting 2014, scholarships for high achieving students (Bidik Misi) will also be awarded to students enrolled on professional courses, such as medical and teacher training. To date, scholarships have have only been provided under the scheme to those studying for bachelor’s degrees (S-1). According to Minister of Education and Culture Mohammad Nuh, the change is designed to allow medical and teacher training students to continue their professional education without having to worry about cost.
