Local government education agencies from the provincial down to the regency and municipal levels have been asked to set out task forces to help reduce the school dropout rate. Rapid action was needed so as to ensure that more children from disadvantaged families continued their education to a higher level. Minister of Education and Culture Mohammad Nuh said that the objective of the task forces should be to ensure that all students who graduated from elementary school/MI could continue on to junior high school/MTs, and that junior high school/MTs graduates could continue their studies at high school/vocational school or MA. To that end, each task force would need to work closely with school principals.
