Honorary teachers in state schools are making a complaint about their condition to the National Commission for Human Rights and the Parliament as their right to teachers’ professional allowance is not paid anymore by the government. Until today, the teachers have not received any explanation on the suspended payment, the amount of which should be equal to one month’s basic salary.
Andi Aziz, the Coordinator of West Java’s Honorary Teachers Struggle Committee, said that honorary teachers who already passed certification have received the allowance until 2011. But since 2012 until today, the payment – the amount of which should be Rp 1.5 million per month – has been suspended.
