Indonesia needs to review and amend the current education funding paradigm. This is essential so that students taking part in the compulsory education program are able to graduate with a better set of basic skills and proceed to a higher educational level.
If students participating in the compulsory education program fail to graduate, then this will impact negatively on the number of students proceeding to high school and university.
Stefan Koeberie, the head of the World Bank Representative Office in Indonesia, said that if that were to happen, the quality of human resources in Indonesia would be adversely affected.
