The Indonesian Private Universities Association (Aptisi) has urged the Minister of Education and Culture’s Directorate General of Higher Education to take action against unauthorized colleges. Aptisi General Chairman Edy Suandi Hamid said that the government must adopt a firm stance against such abuses. Colleges that were proved to lack authorization needed to be shut down, Edy said, as they resulted in confusion and financial losses among the public.  He added that any closures must not result in students becoming the victims.
