The number of scholarships allocated for high-performing students of private universities has been increased from 2,000 to 3,000. By contrast, a total of 90,000 scholarships are allocated for students studying at state universities.
Illa Saillah, the Director of Education and Scholarships at the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Directorate General of Higher Edneducation, said that scholarships for students of private universities were first allocated in 2012, with a total of 2,000 scholarships being involved. Those eligible for the scholarships are high-performing students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have been accepted by the universities in question.
