The Commission X of the Parliament has not agreed to disburse this year’s budget for national exam amounting to Rp600 billion. Currently, the disbursement of budget for national exam is still being discussed by the Government and the Parliament. A Parliament member, Akbar Zulfakar, said that no agreement on the disbursement would indirectly indicate that the Commission, which is also in charge of education affairs, proposes to eliminate National Exam 2013. According to him, however, the Commission X of the Parliament agrees that the Ministry of Education and Culture should firstly complete the construction of new classrooms in 180,000 schools throughout Indonesia and improvement of teachers’ quality as well as learning & teaching aids, which have not been completely provided until today. When asked for confirmation, the Head of Research and Development Division of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Khairil Anwar Notodiputro, stated that the National Exam 2013 will keep going on. Meanwhile, the Minister of Education and Culture, M. Nuh, said that they would consider the elimination of national exam for primary schools next year.
