The discourse on the application of credit system for learning, particularly at the level of senior high school and equivalent, arises concurrently with the application of Curriculum 2013. However, it is difficult for schools to apply the system

Yurizal, the Vice Principal of SMAN 79 in charge of Curriculum says that, ideally, the application of credit system for learning would require more classrooms. Every classroom should be equipped with supporting facilities for the subject concerned, not only an empty classroom.

SMAN 79 Jakarta is deemed successful in the application of the credit system. This school only has 18 classrooms. Ideally, there should be 48 classrooms for the application of the credit system.

In fact, there are guidelines from the National Education Standard Board for the application of credit system at junior/senior high school level and equivalent. In respect of senior high school students, the learning load is minimum 114 credit units and maximum 126 credit units for natural science, social science, language, and religion subjects.
