Officials at many local administration or kelurahan offices in Jakarta said there was a surge in applications submitted by disadvantage residents for Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP), an educational cash assistance program run by the Jakarta provincial government. The education agency is scheduled to distribute the cash assistance at the end of March. The number of disadvantage students eligible for the assistance reached 332,465 according to data from the Indonesian Statistics. However, only 21% of them have been verified and registered as beneficiaries so far, said the agency’s head, Taufik Yudi Mulyanto.
