The House of Representatives’ (DPR) Working Committee for Curriculum demands to see complete and detailed documents of the new 2013 curriculum, which the Ministry of Education and Culture still has not submitted until today, said lawmaker Ferdiansyah of the Commission X overseeing education. He said the DPR was also still waiting for the ministry to explain reasons behind the huge increase in the new curriculum budget to Rp2.4 trillion from Rp684.4 billion initially proposed. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Education and Culture Musliar Kasim said that the ministry still has two days until the deadline and that it will certainly submit the complete documents and final budget for the curriculum. He said that there was no huge increase in the budget and that the budget allocated for the new curriculum was only Rp700 billion. The largest chunk of the budget was for textbook production and teacher training, both of which are routine programs, he added.
