Jakarta city administration will develop a new school building in Marunda, North Jakarta, in order to solve a problem of overcapacity facing two state primary schools in the area, which have recently been overwhelmed by an influx of transfer students, said Didi Sugandi, an official at the Jakarta education agency. The students had to move schools because their families had been relocated to the Marunda low-cost apartments after losing their old homes in the recent big floods. The new school building will be ready by the end of the year.
