The Indonesian Teachers Unions Federation (FSGI) raised concerns about the new curriculum in which the Ministry of Education and Curriculum seemed to be ridiculously trying to shoehorn civic and religious education into subjects such as chemistry, biology and math. In response, Deputy Minister of Education and Culture Musliar Kasim said the new curriculum was simpler and therefore more superior to the current one. Once teachers understood the new curriculum, they will adapt to it, he said, adding that training on the new curriculum for teachers will begin in April. The regional administrations are currently reviewing lists of highly qualified teachers proposed the ministry to participate in the master trainer program.
