Lack of program socialization by the State University National Entrance Selection (SNMPTN) committee and limited computer and internet facilities facing many schools have caused a low registration turnout this year, said education observers Abdul Zen and Retno Listyarti. Another major problem, they said, was the limited time provided for the schools to register and upload the grades obtained by students throughout their three-year education. The committee’s secretary Rochmat Wahab argued that the registration period length of one and a half month was appropriate. However, going forward, the committee will improve the registration system by allowing schools to start uploading their students’ grades from the first year, he added.
