Thousands of high school students in East Java may not be able to participate in the 2013 State University National Entrance Selection (SNMPTN) because their schools have not uploaded their grades on the school and student database system (PDSS). Only 2,155 out of over 4,000 senior secondary schools in the province have completed the PDSS registration. The low registration turnout is due to problems such as lack of knowledge of the SNMPTN’s new registration system and students having no National Student Identification Number, said Harun, head of the province’s education agency. He said his office had socialized the new registration system to local schools in December.
