Education observer Darmaningtyas urged the Jakarta provincial government to ensure close monitoring of the distribution and usage of its educational cash assistance program, Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP), citing possible misappropriation of the fund due to the prevailing strong tendency to corrupt. The KJP program coordinator, Happy Gustin, and Jakarta education agency head, Taufik Yudi Mulyanto, have reminded Jakarta residents wanting to register their school-age children as beneficiaries of the program to avoid using middlemen in obtaining the required poverty notification letter (SKTM) at their local administrative (kelurahan) offices. Taufik said beneficiaries of the KJP will be required to report their use of the fund to their respective schools, which in turn will submit report to their local education offices every three months.
